In the world of F1 23, a highly anticipated racing sim due to launch in June, players will have the unique opportunity to experience the Las Vegas Grand Prix months before the actual event takes place. Captured in footage shared by the game creators, the track promises to mirror the real-world excitement of the race, complete with sweeping turns and high-speed straights under the vibrant city lights.

Using the generic game car, the footage of the Vegas track begins with a three-lap race from the 22nd position. Once the race starts, the first corner is a swift left-hander, quickly followed by a speedy straight leading into the complex series of twists and turns around the glowing Sphere venue.

As players race along the Las Vegas Boulevard, they'll find themselves in the midst of larger-than-life hotels and iconic landmarks such as the Eiffel Tower Restaurant, all accurately replicated in the game. The circuit's high average speed sets the stage for a thrilling race - much faster than most this season - with the dazzling scenery of Las Vegas adding to the its appeal.

The process of creating this track didn't involve the use of laser-scan technology, a tool often used in contemporary games such as iRacing. Instead, the development team worked with reference images and photogrammetry data to create an authentic representation of the Vegas venue for fans of the sport to race around to their heart's content.

Lee Mather, the Senior Creative Director at Codemasters, expressed his enthusiasm for the project.

“Our team has designed a wonderful virtual recreation of one of the most exciting and striking cities in the world.

“The sheer scale and density of the buildings in Las Vegas has been a fun challenge for the team along with the vibrance and energy of The Strip lit up for the Saturday night race.

"It took over 1900 days of cumulative development time to deliver that level of authenticity.”

In addition to revealing the track, the footage gives players a sneak peek into the Las Vegas-themed customisation items available with the Champions Edition pre-order. This includes a sleek chrome car livery, a race suit, gloves, and a crash helmet.

It's also worth mentioning that Pastor Maldonado, the one-time Grand Prix winner, appears to be the team-mate in the Champions Edition, adding a touch more reality to the gaming experience.
