In a recent turn of events during the Monaco Grand Prix qualifying, Lando Norris found himself jokingly suggesting that Charles Leclerc should be "disqualified" after a blocking incident in the famous Monaco tunnel. The tension between these two Formula 1 drivers has reached a new level as Leclerc faces scrutiny from the race stewards regarding the potential impeding incident.

The incident occurred when Leclerc slowed down in the tunnel, preparing for a push lap. Unfortunately, this unexpected deceleration caught Norris off guard as he swiftly approached the slow-moving Ferrari, prompting him to take evasive action to avoid a collision.

As it currently stands, Leclerc is set to start the Monaco Grand Prix from the third on the grid, while Norris finds himself in tenth. However, Leclerc's chances of maintaining his starting position are uncertain, as the stewards deliberate whether to impose a grid penalty on him. It could in fact see Leclerc drop around 5 places.

When asked about the incident by Sky Sports F1, Norris candidly expressed his frustration, stating, "He just blocked me, as simple as that." The McLaren driver went on to speculate about the possible consequences for Leclerc, replying succinctly, "A penalty for him."

Further questioned about the type of penalty he believes would be fitting, Norris humorously replied, "Disqualified or something." He added, “There is one rule which is don’t slow down in the tunnel and that’s what he did, so not up to me.”

After damaging the suspension of his MCL60 by clipping the inside wall at the Nouvelle Chicane late in Q2, Norris and the Papaya team endured a tense race against time. Nevertheless, McLaren successfully repaired his car in time for the final stage of qualifying, albeit with Norris ultimately securing the tenth spot on the grid.

As the stewards deliberate their decision, the intense rivalry between Lando Norris and Charles Leclerc continues to captivate, especially after such an incredible qualifying event.
