F1 News: Lewis Hamilton Eyes Top Gun 3 Appearance - "Would Be So Wicked"

"I want to go to Mars, but no one’s there," said Lewis Hamilton

Mercedes driver Lewis Hamilton, known for his daring activities outside of his Formula 1 career, expressed his wish for outer space exploration, particularly to planet Mars. However, with that being beyond the reach of current aerospace capabilities, his desire to appear in a Top Gun movie alongside Tom Cruise seems to have more chances of being fructified. Top Gun 3, perhaps?

With reports of Paramount working on Top Gun 3 already, the seven-time Formula 1 champion expressed his wish to act in a movie featuring America's best fighter jets. After all, the film seems to be a perfect recipe for thrill seekers and lovers of speed, like Hamilton.

As Formula 1 drivers enjoy their winter break, the 39-year-old Mercedes driver indulged in activities that could satisfy the adventurer within. He went skydiving without a guide in a pair of shorts and also surfed the highest of waves.

Hamilton is already engaged in the co-production of 'Apex' starring Brad Pitt, which intends to capture the essence of Formula 1 racing. However, labor-related strikes in Hollywood have pushed the movie's launch toward the end of 2025. The movie is being directed by Jerry Bruckheimer, who worked on films such as Pirates of the Caribbean and Top Gun.

Hamilton's ambitions don't stop at action-packed movies. He revealed his desire to visit Mars in a video posted to Mercedes' official YouTube channel. When asked if he would star in a movie or go on an outer space trip, he answered:

“Doing Top Gun on the fighter jets with Tom Cruise would be so wicked.

"I want to go to Mars, but no one’s there.”

This isn't the initial instance of Hamilton expressing his interest in space travel, as he previously disclosed last year that he maintains a close connection with Elon Musk, the founder of SpaceX.
