F1 News: Lewis Hamilton Full Of Las Vegas GP Praise - "Had So Much Fun"
Lewis Hamilton has only praises for the Las Vegas GP as he had a blast while driving around the brand-new street circuit in the delayed FP2 session after FP1 was cancelled as a result of an incident involving Carlos Sainz's Ferrari.
Sainz's Ferrari suffered major damage when a water valve cover became dislodged and hit his SF-23 at around 318 kph. The entire track had to be scrutinised before it was declared safe to race, which resulted in a two-and-a-half hours delay and a 4 am finish for second practice.

Hamilton chose to watch a film during the disruption before hitting the track in his W14. There were doubts about whether FP2 would take place at all, as the track underwent repairs. Fortunately, the drivers got to go out again with 90 minutes of runtime.
Lewis Hamilton revealed that he had great fun on the new high-speed track. Speaking to Sky Sports F1 after the session, he said:
“It’s incredibly fast, and I had so much fun today.
“I’m so glad that we did get to run again. Obviously not great in P1 what happened, but they did a great job to fix it, and [it was] an interesting session.”
The seven-time world champion finished 9th in FP2 while teammate George Russell ended in 12th. When asked about his car's performance, Hamilton said:
“It’s okay, it’s not too bad.
“I think when we were all out on the similar tyres, I don’t think we’re too far off. And obviously, everyone’s having graining and people running out of tyres, but everyone was I think in a similar boat.
“Also we’re really low downforce, so you’re sliding through a lot of the low speed corners and also the high speed corners.
You don’t have a huge amount of load because you need the straight-line speed, and then the temperatures I’m sure are having a big effect on it.”
