Lewis Hamilton, the seven-time world champion, managed to grab a P3 finish at the Canadian Grand Prix, a venue where he's already clinched seven victories. While he didn't challenge for 1st place this time and even fell behind Fernando Alonso after initially overtaking him on the first lap, Hamilton remained positive about Mercedes' progress, adding that they'll "get there" - a sincere warning for Aston Martin.

After the race, Hamilton expressed his sentiments to Sky Sports, acknowledging that while they weren't the strongest contenders for the podium, their performance was commendable.

"It was a difficult weekend for some other people. Ferrari were quick. If the Ferrari had qualified where they should’ve on a dry day they would’ve been quicker than us and would’ve been hard for us to overtake them in the race.

"That wasn’t the case. We did a better job than everyone else. We need to work on the rear performance of the car."

Finally, the British driver is showing confidence in his team, and while the W14 isn't quite as fast as he wants it to be, he has his sights set on the gearbox of the Aston Martins.

"We’re on the right track now. We just have to add a lot more performance in the low speed. I have full faith we’ll get there. We’ve got to beat the Aston’s for sure."

With more upgrades coming to the Brackley machinery for the British Grand Prix, Lewis will be wanting to bring a new level of pace to his home race. For now, it will be strategy and luck that will bring the team their first win of the season.
