F1 News: Lewis Hamilton Opens Up Months After Shock Split - "Team Helped Me Bounce Back"
Lewis Hamilton reflected on his separation from his physiotherapist and close friend Angela Cullen earlier this year, saying that he misses her every day.
The seven-time champion parted ways with Cullen in March after working together for seven years, shocking the F1 World. When he announced the split, Hamilton had nothing but nice words to say about Cullen, saying that she pushed him to be the "best version" of himself over the years as well as a "stronger athlete and a better person".
During an interview with L'Equipe, the British driver reflected on his time with Cullen, explaining:
“I miss her every day.
“She was a breath of fresh air for me every day. She was always a great help during the seven years we worked together.
“She was and still is a very good friend. In fact, we’re talking about getting together again and doing something together soon, like parachute jumping, maybe.
“We’ll never leave each other. I’m very grateful for everything she’s given me.”
Hamilton went on to explain that he has not changed up his routine too much since Cullen's exit from his close team. He added:
“No, because I think you always have to adjust your routine, but the team helped me bounce back.”
Mercedes have had another difficult start to the season, however, after bringing in significant upgrades to the Monaco Grand Prix the Brackley-based squad bagged a double podium finish at the Spanish Grand Prix. Hamilton took second place on the podium, for the second time this season, followed by his teammate George Russell in third.
Racing will get going again for the Canadian Grand Prix in a couple of weeks time on 16-18 June.
