Logan Sargeant believes this is the best time to be an American driver in the sport.

The Florida-born driver will make history as the first American driver to race full-time in Formula 1 since Scott Speed in 2007, starting with his debut for Williams at the Bahrain Grand Prix.

The addition of three races in the United States and the return of an American driver in 2023 has greatly increased the popularity of Formula 1 in the US market.

Sargeant sees his historic appointment as perfect timing, as Formula 1 reaches new heights in such a vital market and he becomes the first full-time American driver in 16 years.

During an interview with media, Sargeant explained:

"I think the timing is great, to come into F1 and have three Grands Prix in the first season is pretty special and something I'm going to really enjoy.

"But I think you can tell that F1 in America is at its peak. The amount of people that are asking me questions and are curious about the sport is massive, and that's such a positive."

The American rookie went on to add that Mercedes driver George Russell has given him a lot of advice as he heads into his first F1 season. He continued:

"George has always been a good friend of mine, and always has given me a lot of advice and he's always been super helpful.

"I have to respect the fact that we're all busy and we all have a lot on our plate, and I don't necessarily want to rely on anyone else other than myself for the most part.

"But he's [Russell] always been a good friend and someone that I can go to and I'm sure if I ever absolutely needed it he would be there to help."
