F1 News: Logan Sargeant Crash Sees Him Retire From Dutch Grand Prix

Logan Sargeant leaves the Dutch GP after leaving the track at Turn 7.

For the second time this weekend, Williams driver Logan Sargeant has crashed, this time at Turn 7 of the Dutch Grand Prix.

Lap 16 saw the American driver hit the wall at high speed as a small amount of rain started to land on the Zandvoort. Hitting the inside curb, it looked like the car was damaged by the shock going through the suspension and the FW45 simply ran wide into the outside of the corner and into the wall behind it.

The race was plunged into a full safety car after a host of strategic mishaps due to heavy rain mere minutes into today's race. The Red Bull drivers found themselves at the front of the pack after a number of good strategic decisions, but Mercedes' Lewis Hamilton and George Russell sit P13 and P17 after the exact opposite.

Logan Sargeant was unhurt from the incident, but his F1 career may be on the edge if his performance continues like this.

After yesterday's crash, the driver said:

"It's disappointing, obviously never want to leave the team with a damaged car, and one that's pretty damaged as well, so that's the disappointing part," he said. "But plenty of positives going through qualifying, I think Q1 was good.

"When it was all on the line on Q2 I was able to put a lap in as well to transfer to Q3. But we gelt good all week and I felt good in the drive yesterday but I touched the white line, which must have been wet, so there's really no saving it. Disappointed and sorry to the team."
