F1 News: Logan Sargeant Still Unsure Of Williams Seat For 2024
Williams driver Logan Sargeant is unsure if he will be retained by the team for the 2024 Formula 1 season. With the team willing to wait until the end of the current season to offer the American driver more time and a chance to prove himself, his future with the Grove-based team remains uncertain.
Sargeant went through a rough rookie season, which included several crashes, while teammate Alex Albon scored within the points on many occasions. The American driver's seat is the only one left open on the grid, with the team waiting for the season to conclude before making a call on his contract extension.

The 22-year-old was promoted to the premier class for the current season after a year of driving as a Willaims junior driver racing in Formula 2. However, given his turbulent 2023 season, the team set targets for the current campaign, which included complete weekend performances.
Sargeant scored his first point this season, as a result of being promoted to the 10th position in Austin after Lewis Hamilton and Charles Leclerc were disqualified. In Las Vegas, he qualified seventh- his career best so far.
Unfortunately, he finished P16 in the inaugural race after facing tire-graining problems as a result of a tricky one-stop strategy compared to rival teams that took advantage of the race's second safety car.
When asked in the pre-event press conference in Abu Dhabi if he was confident of being retained for 2024 considering his Vegas qualifying result, Sargeant said:
“It’s a good question – honestly, I don’t know.
“But for me it’s just a case of taking it race by race. I feel like, from a driving point of view, everything has been getting much better in the past I don’t know however many rounds.
“I’m just trying to do my job to the best I can. And I think with how it’s been going recently, I don’t see any issues.”
He also explained that he would pick the Vegas qualifying result as his moment of 2023. He added:
“[That] was really nice.
“Helped by the fact that we had a quick car in Vegas, for sure. But that was definitely very much the highlight.”
