F1 News: Martin Brundle Apologises For Awkward Singapore GP Grid Walk Blunder
Sky Sports F1 presenter and former F1 driver Martin Brundle has apologised to McLaren's Oscar Piastri after their awkward encounter during his grid walk ahead of the Singapore Grand Prix.
Brundle began interviewing the Australian driver as he made his way onto the grid but whilst he was in the middle of a sentence the presenter cut off to quickly wish Esteban Ocon 'Happy Birthday'. However, by the time Brundle turned back around again, Piastri had moved on.

Piastri had already poked fun at the moment on social media, obviously showing there were no hard feelings. He wrote:
"Shall we finish that interview in Suzuka @MBrundleF1?
"FWIW, I’d have done the same. Happy birthday @OconEsteban"
Brundle later responded admitting it wasn't his "finest grid walk moment". He posted:
"Um, yes sorry about that Oscar, wasn’t my finest gridwalk moment in 26 years . Just wanted to wish Esteban happy birthday as he strode past, but you were DRS open and full battery and quite rightly dropped me like an Aussie Rules rookie"
Fans have been loving the moment, claiming it was "Brundle Comedy Gold".
"That was some fantastic unintentional Brundle Comedy Gold! Just another great element to a great F1 weekend!"
Another fan posted highlighting the fact that both Brundle and Piastri had found the lighter side of it rather than it being more drama. They wrote:
"I like this alot good to see there is still some humour in a very serious sport. Don't change you lot."
"Another epic moment That's why i never miss your Grid Walk. You just wanted to double stack or hit two birds with one stone but the other bird chose to run"
