F1 News: Martin Brundle Saddened By Christian Horner Controversy - "Not Good For Formula 1"
Former driver and Sky F1 pundit Martin Brundle has revealed that it makes him sad to see the Red Bull Christian Horner investigation controversy making headlines in the news rather than the Formula 1 season opener in Bahrain.
Key Takeaways:
- Martin Brundle, former driver and Sky F1 pundit, expresses sadness over the Red Bull Christian Horner investigation overshadowing the Bahrain Formula 1 season opener.
- Brundle hoped the focus would be on thrilling racing, but the controversy, impacting Red Bull and Formula 1, has dominated headlines.
- The circulation of an anonymous email to key F1 figures, including FIA president Mohammed Ben Sulayem and F1 CEO Stefano Domenicali, leads Brundle to believe the controversy is just beginning, emphasizing the need for actions to conclude it.
Given the diverse outcomes in Free Practice and Qualifying, Brundle aimed for the focus to be on the thrilling aspects of the racing rather than the controversy, which has impacted not only Red Bull but also Formula 1.
The turn of events in the controversy, marked by the circulation of an anonymous email containing alleged case details to the FIA president Mohammed Ben Sulayem, F1 CEO Stefano Domenicali, and other team principals, leads Brundle to believe that the controversy is not concluding but rather just starting.
Addressing the situation and expressing sadness, Brundle told Sky Sports F1:
"My personal take is that I am very sad about the whole thing, a lot of people are getting dragged into this.
"F1 is all over the front pages, all over the internet all around the world and it's not about the racing, it is not about who is going to win this grand prix and who is going to be on pole position.
"So I think it is unquestionable that it is not good for F1, what is going on, and I do believe that some actions need to be taken to move this along and to bring this to an absolute conclusion.
"But as I have said, it feels to me like this is the beginning of the story rather than the end of it but we will have to wait and see.
"We do know that all allegations have been denied, but it is just a horrible situation."
