F1 News: Max Verstappen Becomes Three-Time Championship In Qatar Sprint Race
Max Verstappen has taken the 2023 Drivers' Championship title after crossing the line in second position and Sergio Perez retired from the Qatar Grand Prix Sprint Race.
The Dutch driver has shown incredible dominance all season, winning all but three of the races so far, the others going to Sergio Perez with two wins and Carlos Sainz with one.

Red Bull took the Constructors' Championship title at the Japanese Grand Prix and Verstappen's teammate Sergio Perez is currently running in second position in the Drivers' Standings.
Going into the weekend at the Lusail International Circuit, Verstappen only had to bring in three points in the Sprint Race to take the championship or Perez had to not score any points. After a chaotic Sprint Shootout with many drivers having lap times deleted, Verstappen started the Sprint Race from third position on the grid behind a McLaren front row of Oscar Piastri and Lando Norris who started from pole position and second place, respectively.

Verstappen now matches Jack Brabham, Nelson Piquet, Sir Jackie Stewart, Niki Lauda, and Ayrton Senna with three championship wins to his name.
