After the cancellation of the Emilia Romagna Grand Prix, a number of drivers have shared their support for the choice F1 has made to support the people of the region.

In a recent development, Formula One confirmed the cancellation of the Emilia Romagna Grand Prix, which was set to take place this weekend. The reason behind this unexpected turn of events is the extreme flooding that the region has been dealing with over the past couple of weeks.

The announcement was made via a press release posted on social media platforms, informing fans and followers about the decision. The statement read:

"The decision has been taken not to proceed with the Grand Prix weekend in Imola. The Formula 1 community wants to send its thoughts to the people and communities affected by the recent events in the Emilia-Romagna region. We also want to pay tribute to the work of the emergency services who are doing everything they can to help those in need."

The decision came after thorough discussions involving various key stakeholders. These include Formula One management, the President of the FIA, relevant Ministers and authorities, the President of the Automobile Club of Italy, the President of the Emilia Romagna Region, the Mayor of the City, and the event promoter. The unanimous agreement was to cancel the Grand Prix in Imola for the safety and well-being of all involved.

The press release elaborated on the decision, stating:

"The decision has been taken because it is not possible to safely hold the event for our fans, the teams, and our personnel. It is the right and responsible thing to do given the situation faced by the towns and cities in the region."

He personally stated:

"Safety and help for the people who really need it is the most important thing.

"That's where care should go first. So it seems only logical to me that we don't race at times like this."

Now, reigning champion Max Verstappen and his team have given their support to the decision and the people of Emilia Romagna.

"Max Verstappen and verstappen.com are supportive of the decisions made by F1 and local authorities to cancel the Grand Prix.

"Our thoughts are with all those affected by the severe rainfall and flooding in the greater Emilia Romagna region.

"We wish you all strength to ensure your safety throughout this period."
