F1 News: Max Verstappen Criticises Sergio Perez - "I Wouldn't Be Happy..."
Max Verstappen secured a triumphant pole position in the Canadian Grand Prix, exhibiting his usual exceptional dominance at the wheel of the RB19. But while he was celebrating his 25th pole of his career, his teammate Sergio Perez faltered, unable to make it past Q2. The Dutch driver has now discussed his teammate's poor performance, criticising him on his Q2 exit.
We saw a huge contrast between the two drivers on Saturday's qualifying sessions as Verstappen rode the waves of success while Perez struggled with the literal waves of rain and water on the track. In Q2, the wet got the better of the Mexican driver, seeing him out in P12. Verstappen finished P1.
“Well, if I hadn’t been there it would have looked very different for Red Bull,” he told the press at the track.
“I wouldn’t be happy with not making Q3 three times in a row.
“I’m not concerned about it either. I’m busy enough on my side of the garage getting everything in order. I pay all my attention to that.”
Continuing, he explains what he believed to be going on behind the scenes after the troubling Saturday.
“The team must be working on that maybe, but you have to ask them.
“On Friday, of course, I was already busy getting the car better, so then I’m not going to think about that.
“It’s not my problem.”
Perez will be wanting to do his best to climb up the grid, especially as questions around his Red Bull seat are starting to pop up around the paddock.
