F1 News: Max Verstappen Sets Sights On Racing Away From Formula One

Max Verstappen has revealed which racing series he would like to go into after he heads into retirement from Formula One.

Max Verstappen has expressed a desire to venture into other motorsport arenas, notably eyeing the legendary 24 Hours of Le Mans race. This development follows his remarkable achievement of clinching his third consecutive world title in 2023 by winning 19 out of 22 Grands Prix.

Key Takeaways:

  • Broadening Horizons: Verstappen is keen to explore various racing series outside the Formula 1 circuit. His particular interest in the 24 Hours of Le Mans race stands out, a venue where his father, Jos Verstappen, triumphed in the LMP2 class in 2008.
  • A Finite F1 Future: Verstappen contemplates a shorter career span in Formula 1 compared to veterans like seven-time champion Lewis Hamilton or two-time champion Fernando Alonso, signalling a potential shift towards other racing formats in the future.
  • Varied Racing Interests: While IndyCar commands his respect, Verstappen's enthusiasm leans towards series like MotoGP and SuperGT. He expresses a special admiration for Super Formulas, considered the fastest cars after Formula 1, and exhibits a strong inclination towards participating in the 24 Hours of Le Mans, recalling fond memories of his father's participation.

Max Verstappen, the three-time Formula 1 world champion, has set his sights on taking part in other motorsport series. Following a dominant streak in Formula 1, culminating in his third world championship in 2023, Verstappen's aspirations seem to be steering away from the F1 tracks.

The Dutch racing sensation has achieved remarkable success at a young age in Formula 1. However, recent statements suggest that Verstappen might not envision a long-term career in F1 akin to other legends of the sport.

Verstappen's interests in motorsports are varied and diverse. While he holds a high regard for IndyCar, he doesn't foresee himself competing in it. As quoted by Corriere dello Sport, Verstappen stated:

"I like watching IndyCar, I have a lot of respect for what they do, but I don't think I would participate."

His enthusiasm is more pronounced for series like MotoGP and SuperGT, and he fondly recalls the excitement of driving a Super Formula car:

“I got to try one last year, and it was very nice. Super Formulas are beautiful, and are the fastest cars below Formula 1."

However, it is the allure of the 24 Hours of Le Mans that seems to captivate Verstappen the most, perhaps influenced by his father's achievements in the same race. He expressed:

“I would definitely like the 24 Hours of Le Mans. I've already been there when my father raced."
