The Austrian Grand Prix is on the horizon, and Mercedes team principal Toto Wolff is filled with anticipation for his home race. He's not merely looking forward to the event but issuing a subtle warning to competitors: Mercedes is gaining momentum. As Wolff states, "the W14 should be better here than in Canada," referencing Lewis Hamilton's recent podium finish.

Following a turning point at Monaco, Mercedes has been on an upward trajectory, securing three podium finishes in subsequent Grands Prix. Nevertheless, the coveted win remains just out of reach for the German team.

As the race in Austria approaches, Mercedes aims to continue their upward trend. Wolff remarks in a recent press release:

"There were plenty of positives to take from the last race in Canada. Although we didn't get both cars to the chequered flag, a podium was a solid result and we saw encouraging signs from our updated package.Austria is always a special weekend, as it's my home race."

Looking forward to the weekend, he declares:

"We will aim to build on the momentum we have generated over the past two races and continue our positive trajectory with the car. It's a venue where the W14 should perform better than in Canada, but we won't take anything for granted. As always, we will be working hard to maximise our performance and deliver strong results."

The Brackley-based squad are currently second in the constructors' championship with 167 points ahead of Aston Martin with 154 points and behind Red Bull who are dominating the season. The Austrian team lead the championship with 321 points.

Seven-time champion Lewis Hamilton has had a podium finish for the last two races in Canada and Spain with his teammate George Russell securing the third spot on the podium in Spain.
