  • Mercedes' Toto Wolff humorously offers Marko a position within his team, citing the need for a new "mascot" following Niki Lauda's absence.

Toto Wolff - Mercedes

The dynamics within the Red Bull team have taken a riveting turn, with speculation surrounding Helmut Marko's rumoured suspension. Reports of a power struggle have emerged, pointing to a turbulent atmosphere since the allegations against Christian Horner.

Toto Wolff, the Mercedes team principal, watches the unfolding drama with an element of amusement.

"If the team gets rid of Marko, it will certainly be a loss for Red Bull and the team," Toto told ORF after the team's consultant admitted he may soon be suspended.

In a light-hearted gesture, he extended an offer to Marko, suggesting a place for him within the Mercedes team.

"We miss our old mascot (Niki Lauda), so we just take Helmut with us. He's the right age. He just doesn't have a red cap, but he can join us," Wolff quips.

On the other side of the garage, Max Verstappen has thrown his support behind Marko, with him admitting that he will leave the team if they decide to remove Marko.

“I cannot continue without Helmut Marko," he told De Telegraaf.

The implications of these internal dynamics could have lasting effects on the future of Red Bull. Hopefully tomorrow we'll know much more.
