F1 News: Mercedes Team Boss On 2024 Car - "Many Good Things In The Pipeline"

Toto Wolff is positive about the developments back at Brackley and Brixworth.

Mercedes team principal and CEO Toto Wolff gave a glimpse of what is to come next year. Being optimistic about the 2024 W15 F1 car, he revealed that the "motivated" team back at Brackley and Brixworth was coming up with "so many good things."

Wolff hadn't been this optimistic about Mercedes' F1 car in a long time. The team faced a challenging season since the inception of the ground effect era in 2022, where it took a completely wrong direction with the car's development.

Though the W14 received numerous upgrades this year, it wasn't enough to catch up with Red Bull's RB19 piloted by Max Verstappen. The Brackley squad revamped its approach to the car and next year it is said to release an entirely new title contender.

All that Wolff wants from his team is a championship-winning car, not one that can place the team in P2 like the 2023 season. For the same reason, technical director James Allison took over the role from Mike Elliot, as the former was responsible for building a potent machine during Mercedes's era of domination in Formula 1.

Fortunately for Wolff, the efforts might be paying off as he has good news to share about the winter development of the 2024 W15 car, being worked upon by a "motivated" team that is putting together all the past learning to come up with "new things." Speaking to Sky F1, he said:

“We have a gap to the leaders.

“But the two teams, at Brixworth and Brackley, are so motivated. We have so many good things in the pipeline, so many new things, and, with all the learning we had, [we are] really in a good place to see what’s coming together.

“[We have] got to take the momentum now from the P2 in the championship and take the momentum to the factories.”
