Mick Schumacher has left fans emotional after posting the moment he took his mother, Corinna, out in the passenger seat of his Race of Champions rallycross car, as he follows in the footsteps of his father Michael Schumacher.

The young German driver came second place at the event of the weekend and decided to take his mother out as his co-driver to make the most of being there.

During an interview with Sport1, Schumacher spoke about the moment. He explained:

"It was the first time we did it. I first took her out onto the ice in the Porsche so that she could have this experience, then we also drove the rallycross car.

"I think she really enjoyed it. It was a good day, she got to see what I do to make money.

“It gave her a better understanding of how a weekend like this works and it was nice to be able to take her with us. It's not that easy in a Formula 1 car. I think she had a lot of fun doing it and also saw what I can do."

Fans were quick to share their thoughts on the emotional moment, with one writing:

"This opens a rabbit hole, could a father be a copilot had things gone differently? If so Germany would have gone undefeated on a technicality. Or is it because his Dad raced he wouldn't be allowed?"

Mick competed with Sebastian Vettel as part of 'Team Germany', who his father Michael has also competed with in the same event prior to his horrific skiing accident.

Other emotional comments on his Instagram and Twitter post include:

"Your dad will be proud of u" [sic]

"Future F1 champion... we'll support you Mick no matter what"

"I'm crying stop"

"Wow your mother is amazing. Great team!"
