A recent photo of Mick Schumacher, posted to the Mercedes F1 Instagram account, has made a large ripple in the world of Formula 1 as the driver heads to Goodwood Festival of Speed to not only drive his father's, Michael Schumacher, Mercedes W02, but also wear a helmet identical to his father's, too.

The young German reserve driver will be driving the Mercedes F1 car up the famous Goodwood hill climb on the Saturday and Sunday of the event, and we will be there to cover it for Sports Illustrated and hopefully have a chat with Schumacher as he enjoys the applause of onlookers.

But ahead of the weekend, as he readies himself for the Goodwood event, the Brackley-based team posted a photo that has garnered a ridiculous amount of attention.

"Mick in Michael’s helmet. What a moment," the team commented, with hundreds, if not thousands of other comments joining theirs.

"I don’t wanna cry again," an emotional user commented, with another adding:

"Like father like son omg I’m cry." [sic]

A third continued: "Mick in his dad's helmet.. is the world healing?"

In the shadow of an unfortunate skiing accident over nine years ago, legendary Formula 1 driver Michael Schumacher sustained significant brain damage. After the accident, he was rushed to a hospital and remained in a medically-induced coma until June 2014. Details regarding Schumacher's current health condition remain scarce, as his family has opted to keep his situation confidential.

Stepping into his father's shoes, Mick Schumacher ended his journey with the Haas F1 team last season. Mick has now embarked on a new journey with him taking on the role of Mercedes F1 team's reserve driver alongside George Russell and Lewis Hamilton. He has been an instrumental force in the team, spending hours upon hours in the simulator testing setups for each weekend.

We're happy to see Mick revel in his father's history, and I'm very much looking forward to Mick creating his own history as time goes on.
