Netflix's Drive to Survive docuseries, which offers a behind-the-scenes look at Formula 1 racing, showcasing team dynamics, driver lives, and the challenges of the sport, has released some staggering viewership figures for the period between January - June 2023.

The recently released “What We Watched: A Netflix Engagement Report,” offers viewers a detailed look at the best-performing shows for the first half of the year. Apart from other movies, the numbers for Drive to Survive Season 5 have been very intriguing as it is the most watched under the season/event docuseries category.

It ranks 115th on the list of all shows featured on Netflix in the same period, with a total of 90.2 million hours viewed. Focussing on the 2022 season, the fifth edition of the docuseries was released in February 2023. Curiously, the most successful documentary series were all launched within the first half of this year.

Netflix crews have close proximity access to the events in Formula 1 through which they can provide viewers with an immersive experience of the premier class of motorsport. Filming occurs at every race, with a particular emphasis on capturing the behind-the-scenes dynamics of the teams.

Drive to Survive Season 6

Drive to Survive Season 6 is reported to premiere on Friday, February 23. However, this has not been confirmed by Netflix. Following the pattern of the previous year, the series will likely coincide with F1's pre-season testing.

This version of the docuseries will offer an insider's view of the 2023 campaign, capturing behind-the-scenes moments with the teams and the events that unfolded in the Formula 1 paddock throughout the year.

Speaking of Netflix's engagement report, this is the first time the American subscription video-on-demand streaming service has released such details about its viewership hours. This trend will be followed twice every year, once every six months, to keep fans posted on what's being viewed the most.
