F1 News: Nico Hulkenberg Out Of Miami GP FP1 After Crash Puts Red Flag On Session
Nico Hulkenberg is out of the Miami Grand Prix Free Practice 1 after spinning out and colliding with the race wall. Thankfully the driver is ok.
The Haas driver was second on the time sheets before the crash put a red flag on the session with just under half an hour to go.
The German driver lost control of the rear of the car on Turn 3 before colliding with the wall. The Haas car is now on its way to the pits giving the team time to fix any damage ahead of Free Practice two later on today.
The American team was quick to assure fans that Hulkenberg was alright and out of the car. They posted to social media:
"Session is stopped an unfortunately it’s due to us. Nico has collided with the wall after losing the rear end. He’s out of the car and ok."
It seems to be taking a while for the marshals to get Hulkenberg's car back into the pits but the session should be able to get going again shortly.
George Russell had to pit early on in the session after issues with his steering rack, so this has played out in his favour as the other teams are no longer able to gather more data than he is with them all being in the pits.
