F1 News: Nico Hulkenberg Reveals What Hindered Him From "Jumping To A Top Car"
Nico Hulkenberg has given an insight into how he lost out on securing a full-time F1 seat with Ferrari back in 2013.
The German driver has recently spoken out on his record of starting the most amount of races (193) without securing a podium finish. Part of his defence in this was that, yes he has sometimes had the opportunity to take a podium, however, the majority of the time he has not been in one of the top-performing cars.

Hulkenberg supposedly got close to signing with the iconic Maranello-based squad for the 2013 season, however, the team decided to sign elsewhere. It was thought at the time that his height was a major factor in this.
At 6ft tall, Hulkenberg is one of the tallest on the grid. Esteban Ocon and Alex Albon come in at 6ft 1 and George Russell matches Hulkenberg at 6ft tall.
Speaking about his height holding him back during an interview with Autosport, Hulkenberg explained:
"I've never had an answer where [teams] said, 'Sorry, no – we turned you down because you're too tall'.
"Probably they wouldn't tell me straight to my face.
"But I'm pretty sure that it has, yeah, hindered the odd opportunity and occasion to jump to a top car.
"Packaging issues, less space, more weight, which is not the right way around in this business."
The German driver is proving himself with the Haas F1 team this season by outperforming his teammate Kevin Magnussen. Hulkenberg is currently in fourteenth position in the drivers' standings with 9 points in comparison to Magnussen in eighteenth position with 2 points.
