Nico Hulkenberg has been summoned to the stewards after the Canadian GP qualifying session for a possible red flag infringement.

The German driver had an incredible session putting in the second-fastest time behind two-time champion Max Verstappen. However, it has now been revealed that he has been summoned to the stewards. A letter from the stewards has been released, which reads:

"Driver: 27 - Nico Hulkenberg.

"Alleged breach of Article 37.6 a) of the FIA Formula One Sporting Regulations - Car 27 failing to stay above the minimum time set by the FIA ECU at 16:59."

No verdict has been made on this possible infringement at the moment but it could result in the Haas driver being handed a penalty which could change his starting position for the race in Montreal tomorrow.

Hulkenberg and a representative from Haas will be meeting with the stewards at 18:40 local time, which is in just under half an hour.

Hulkenberg is not the only driver being investigated after the dramatic qualifying session. Carlos Sainz, Lance Stroll and Yuki Tsunoda are also being investigated for impeding other drivers.

Due to start behind Hulkenberg tomorrow is Fernando Alonso who will be hoping for a penalty to start alongside Max Verstappen. Hulkenberg's teammate Kevin Magnussen is due to start from back in fourteenth position.

Haas has not commented on the summons as of yet, but we will be waiting for further updates and decisions from the stewards.
