F1 News: Nyck de Vries Management Contemplating Suing After "Fake" Quote Surfaces

A defamation case may well be on the way.

Nyck de Vries' representative Guillaume Le Goff has waved off a string of comments allegedly originating from the Dutch race car driver. The claims, circulated online by a number of media (not including SI.com and F1Briefings), have caused a stir in the world of F1 and now the driver's team is considering taking legal action against those who have instigated the false accusations.

The Former AlphaTauri number two has been out of the public eye since his unexpected departure from the Italian team a week ago. Since this, a flurry of tweets surfaced suggesting that the Dutch racer had revealed he had an assured Red Bull seat for 2025. Moreover, the tweets hinted that he believed Lewis Hamilton was unjustly denied the World Championship in 2021 by the Milton Keynes squad.

Contrary to these online murmurs, Le Goff clarified that de Vries hadn't released any such statements.

"Nyck has not spoken to anyone since the news about his AlphaTauri seat. The news is fake and defamatory," Le Goff told F1 Insider.

"In the course of the week there will be an official statement from Nyck. Until then, we still have a few things to arrange."

Meanwhile, it's interesting to note that after leaving his position, de Vries was caught in conversation with Mercedes Team Principal Toto Wolff at a café in Monaco. Earlier this week, he was also spotted swimming along the French Riviera in the company of Max Verstappen and Lando Norris. There's obviously no bad blood between the Red Bull drivers, and I'm glad he's in high spirits after his early, and perhaps unjust dismissal.
