Red Bull motorsport advisor Helmut Marko has delivered a crushing blow to AlphaTauri driver Nyck de Vries

Marko recently revealed during an interview that he was all for the Dutch driver joining the team, however, Red Bull team chief Christian Horner was against it. The motorsport advisor then admitted that Horner was probably right.

Now, Marko has delivered another blow to de Vries by saying in an interview with Austria's Kleine Zeitun that they are not satisfied with his performance so far. Marko explained:

"

Yuki is having a very good season with unfortunate results and some penalties, but his performance is good

.

"About him [Nyck de Vries], we are not satisfied, we are also looking at that."

The Italian squad are currently last in the constructors' championship with just two points, all of which have been earned by Japanese driver Yuki Tsunoda. De Vries is just one of two drivers who have not scored any points during the 2023 season so far.

There were high hopes for the Dutch driver after his impressive F1 debut at the 2022 Italian Grand Prix. De Vries had to step in last minute for Alex Albon at Williams after he was rushes to hospital with appendicitis. The Dutch driver had barely any time to prepare and still managed to score two points on his debut.

After his exciting debut there was a huge amount of buzz surrounding the driver with many teams rumoured to have been interested in offering him a seat for 2023. It was later confirmed that de Vries had been signed with AlphaTauri after Pierre Gasly left the team for Alpine.

However, de Vries has struggled to make an impact during the season so far leading many to believe that his contract might not be extended at the end of the year.
