Red Bull has been unbeatable in every race of the 2023 F1 season, but how is this going to affect viewership as we continue the year?

Concerns of lower viewership are ramping up as Red Bull continues its domination of the F1 season. Former pundit Johnny Herbert has added his take to the discussion.

Red Bull has won every single race so far this 2023 F1 season, and it's no secret that fans are getting tired of the consistent, predictable finishes. And while this is a common trope of the sport, with each era usually dominated by a certain constructor, for some reason, it seems worse this time around.

Thinking more seriously about it, the issue comes from the fact that F1 has actively tried to stop this with the current regulations. When in fact, it's simply been made worse. Adrian Newey, the legendary aerodynamicist behind the RB19, expected exactly this to happen years before the regulations were implemented.

Max Verstappen - Red Bull

Now, Johnny Herbert, former Sky F1 pundit, has added his concerns to the mix:

"If you look at the Netflix and America coming on board we have had a couple of years where we have had a fight on our hands [between different teams]," he said.

"Ferrari were in the mix last year but then it went awry. This year Red Bull are in complete control. If there is a threat that people might turn off because it is predictable then yes, Red Bull’s domination could be a problem."

Continuing, he added that this isn't what he wants from the sport, admitting that it will turn off people from the sport:

"It is not what I want. I want others to have that chance to take it to Verstappen. We are not seeing that. There is always that being predictable could lead people to switch off."

It certainly looks like Red Bull could easily run away with the championship this year, with no other constructor seemingly able to get close to the lead that the RB19s are commanding. But with upgrades coming to Aston Martin this weekend at the Canadian Grand Prix, maybe Fernando Alonso is right when he says they will "crush" the competition.
