F1 News: Sebastian Vettel Reveals F1 Comeback - "Motorsports Is My Passion"
Since his departure from Formula 1 at the end of last season, four-time world champion Sebastian Vettel has largely remained out of the spotlight. Known for his private nature, Vettel recently made headlines by announcing his participation in the Goodwood Festival of Speed, where he will drive Nigel Mansell's iconic Williams FW14B.
While speculation arises regarding a potential comeback to the F1 grid, Vettel prefers the comfort of his living room, opting not to pursue a career in TV punditry. In a conversation with Bild, Vettel reveals his contentment with retirement and the joys it brings.
"After spending so much time in racing, I now have a semblance of everyday life for the first time," he shares. "It took me a while to adjust, but above all, I cherish the moments spent with my children."
Vettel's journey in motorsport began at a young age, starting with karting at the age of 3 and progressing to single-seaters at 16 before making his F1 debut at just 20. Racing has been the core of his existence, making retirement a significant change.
"While I am doing well with my decision so far, what I miss the most is the competition and the thrill," he admits. "It felt strange at first not being there, but I am coping well and continue to follow the sport with great interest."
The German driver concluded his career after two seasons with Aston Martin, a period that presented challenges during the 2022 season. However, he expresses his happiness for his former team, observing their recent success with Fernando Alonso currently holding third place in the championship, achieving four podium finishes in five races.
Looking ahead to his participation in Goodwood with the Williams, Vettel shares his anticipation. He sees it as an opportunity to gather inspiration, explore various aspects, and gather ideas for potential future projects.
"Driving my old racing cars with e-fuels at Goodwood is a special experience," he explains. "Motorsport is my passion, and it is important for me to showcase that we can achieve similar performance and speed with synthetic, CO2-neutral fuels. Today, synthetic fuels provide a responsible solution for enjoying the sport. Many people are still unaware of this."
Sebastian Vettel's retirement has allowed him to appreciate life beyond the racetrack, focusing on his family while keeping his passion for motorsport alive.
