F1 News: Sergio Perez Apologises To Red Bull Team After Poor Monaco Performance
Red Bull driver Sergio Perez has apologised to his team after a weekend of poor performance at the Monaco Grand Prix. The Mexican driver crashed during the first qualifying session leaving him at the back of the grid for Sunday's race start. And to make matters worse, he made several mistakes during the race, pushing viewers to call out his "worst race weekend in memory".
Max Verstappen however, his championship-leading teammate, finished almost half a minute ahead of the pack today, bringing to an end a dominant session and a handful of points to propel him further towards his third championship win. In fact, he lapped Perez twice under the challenging conditions.
Bringing more focus to the contrast between the RB19 pilots this weekend. Perez apologised through the radio to his team after the dramatic race:
“What a weekend! I'm sorry, it was all my fault. We will return to our level in Barcelona," he said.
Christian Horner, Red Bull team principal, responded optimistically:
“This has been a tough weekend for you, put it behind you. Next week: Barcelona."
Perez finished P16 this week, a result he'll likely want to forget as he and the rest of the grid head into Barcelona for next weekend's race. We'll see what the Milton Keynes racers can bring to Spain's Grand Prix, but expect yet more dominance.
