F1 News: Sergio Perez Crashes Horrendously Out Of Monaco Qualifying
Sergio Perez has crashed out of the Monaco GP qualifying session after just 8 minutes.
Hoping to bag a pole position in his race in the drivers' championship against his Red Bull teammate Max Verstappen, this will be a big blow to the Mexican driver. From what we can see the driver went into Turn 1 too fast and lost control sliding into the race barriers.
It was apparent very quickly that a red flag would be put on the session and that Perez's qualifying session was over. Once the session gets going again we will be able to see if the time he has already put on the board will technically get him through to Q2, meaning he would start tomorrow from fifteenth position.
The Austrian team are now relying on two-time champion Max Verstappen to get pole position in Monte Carlo today.
As the marshals work to remove the RB19 off of the track and back to the team garage, the other teams and drivers are waiting for the session to get going again. Currently in the elimination zone are Lewis Hamilton, Nyck de Vries, Logan Sargeant, Carlos Sainz, and Alex Albon.
However, there will be eleven minutes on the clock when things get back under way so the drivers have time to put in some flying laps to try and get themselves out of the elimination zone.
