F1 News: Sergio Perez Retires From Japanese GP Diminishing Red Bull's Championship Hopes
Sergio Perez is out of the Japanese Grand Prix after sustaining too much damage from multiple collisions during the opening stages of the race.
The Mexican driver had already had a dramatic start to the race after contact on the race start with Lewis Hamilton resulting in him needing a replacement front nose. Adding to this, Perez was then handed a five-second time penalty for overtaking under the safety car as he exited the pit lane.

However, what ended the race for the Red Bull driver was another collision with Haas drier Kevin Magnussen, again damaging the front wing. Perez ultimately was forced to retire from the race due to the amount of damage sustained to the RB19.
Red Bull has the opportunity to take the constructors' championship title at the race in Suzuka as long as they outscore Mercedes and don't get outscored by Ferrari by 24 points or more. The team now only relies on current race leader Max Verstappen to make this happen.
