F1 News: Sport Makes Another Mistake After Chaotic Dutch Grand Prix

F1 fans have been picking apart mistakes following the Dutch Grand Prix.

Formula One has been picked up on yet again by fans for another Dutch Grand Prix blunder. Max Verstappen drove to victory at his home race and joining him on the podium were Fernando Alonso and Pierre Gasly.

After Alonso celebrated his second-place podium in Zandvoort, Formula One posted to social media, writing, "Fernando Alonso has set a new F1 record for the longest time between first and last career podiums. 2003 Malaysian Grand Prix to 2023 Dutch Grand Prix." The post included celebration photos from both wins with the number 7,399.

Fans were quick to do that maths and the following note was added:

"The number of days displayed on this graphic is incorrect. The actual number of days between Fernando Alonso's podium and hi most recent podium is 7,462 days.

"7,462 is the number of days that separates 23 March 2003 and 27 August 2023."

This comes after the wrong graphic was shown when Alpine driver Pierre Gasly took to the third spot on the podium for the Dutch Grand Prix celebrations. As the ecstatic driver walked out to the podium platform, his teammate Esteban Ocon's name was plastered over the screens.

Fans quickly picked up on the Alonso error, one commented:

"7399 is actually the days between Michael Schumacher's first and last podium, they messed up"

Another fan commented:

"Nothing surprises me with F1 now..."

Others jumped to defend the Formula One social team reminding others that it was just a human error.

The next important F1 date is Friday 1st September for the start of the Italian Grand Prix race weekend at the iconic Monza track.
