Mercedes Team Principal Toto Wolff has finally broken his silence on Lewis Hamilton's impending exit from the team. The confirmation of Hamilton's departure to join Ferrari has marked a significant shift in the F1 landscape.

Wolff, speaking on the matter, reflected on the extraordinary success Hamilton and Mercedes have achieved together.

“In terms of a team-driver pairing, our relationship with Lewis has become the most successful the sport has seen, and that’s something we can look back on with pride; Lewis will always be an important part of Mercedes motorsport history.

"However, we knew our partnership would come to a natural end at some point, and that day has now come. We accept Lewis’s decision to seek a fresh challenge, and our opportunities for the future are exciting to contemplate. But for now, we still have one season to go, and we are focused on going racing to deliver a strong 2024.”

The announcement underscores the end of an era for Mercedes, with Hamilton's association with the team spanning 11 years by the end of 2024, a period that included his latest world title in 2020.

As the Formula 1 community turns its eyes to the 2025 season, the anticipation surrounding Hamilton's performance with Ferrari is palpable. His move not only rejuvenates his own career but also injects fresh energy into Ferrari's championship aspirations. With both Hamilton and Ferrari looking to the future, the stage is set for a thrilling new chapter in the history of Formula 1.
