F1 News: WATCH Alex Albon Crash As He Brings Monaco FP1 To A Close

Alex Albon suffered from a crash during Monaco GP FP1 bringing the session to a close.

Alex Albon has suffered a crash during the last five minutes of the first free practice session of the Monaco Grand Prix weekend.

The Williams driver brought the session to an early close after colliding with the race wall when he lost control of the rear around Turn 1. Thankfully, the driver confirmed that he was ok and only banged his knees during the impact.

Williams shared to social media:

"Agh Alex has made contact with the barriers at Sainte Devote, bringing out the red flag. Thankfully, he reports he is ok."

The British team will now be putting in the work for the next few hours to hopefully get Albon into Free Practice Two this afternoon. From what we could see from the footage of the crash, the front and rear left tyres were completely mangled from the shunt.

Albon came to a stop on the track and was not able to get the car back to the pits, and so bringing the session to a close whilst the marshals worked to remove the car from the track.

Sky Sports F1 has shared the footage from the crash, writing:

"Alex Albon brings out the Red Flag after going into the barriers and FP1 will not resume"
