New Williams team principal James Vowles has teased some huge new recruits coming to the British team in the "next 12 months".

It was confirmed ahead of the summer break that Alpine chief technical officer Pat Fry has made the move to Williams to take up the role of technical director. However, Vowles has confirmed that this is not the only "big name" coming from "big teams".

During an interview with The Mirror, Vowles explained:

“For the remainder of the team, we’ve started to bulk out.

“We haven’t made it all public, but there are some good hires coming in.

“It will take time, as always in F1, but across the next 12 months, we’ll see some big names from big teams coming across.

“That’s what makes me excited. The direction of travel to where we are today – before we’ve even bulked the team in the way I’d like to.”

Despite some difficulties during 2022 and the start of 2023, Williams has been able to find some significant improvements in pace over the last few races. Alex Albon took home a seventh place finish during the Italian Grand Prix today, which is best results yet joint with the Canadian Grand Prix when he crossed the line in the same position. Albon's teammate rookie Logan Sargeant is yet to put any points on the board, with his best finish being eleventh position which he took at the Italian GP today and the British Grand Prix earlier in the year.

The team is currently running in seventh position in the constructors' standings with 21 points behind Alpine in sixth with 73 points and ahead of Haas in eighth with 11 points.
