The Williams FW46 made its first appearance during a shakedown in Bahrain, piloted by Logan Sargeant. The car's debut comes ahead of the scheduled test days in Bahrain and after the British team's car launch at the beginning of February which only showcased the new livery.

Key Takeaways:

  • The Williams FW46 was driven by Logan Sargeant during a pre-testing shakedown in Bahrain, marking the car's track debut.
  • The FW46 features a new design for the 2024 season, distinguished by a darker livery, as revealed by the team's principal, James Vowles.
  • Testing sessions are planned for Wednesday to Friday, with the season's official start at the Bahrain Grand Prix following shortly after.

The anticipation surrounding Williams' FW46 has been building, especially since the team had previously only unveiled the car's livery without showcasing the vehicle itself. However, Logan Sargeant has now taken the FW46 for its inaugural run on the Bahrain circuit ahead of pre-season testing which begins tomorrow.

Williams showed an incredible jump in performance between 2022 and 2023 leaving many expecting another strong performance from the British team in 2024. Today also marks one year since Vowles joined the team as its principal, which so far has only been positive for the team's growth.

The driver lineup remains consistent with the previous season, featuring American driver Logan Sargeant and Thai-British driver Alex Albon. While Sargeant's position within the team was subject to speculation after his rookie season, Albon's role seemed more secure, despite frequent rumours linking him to other opportunities within the sport.

As the test days in Bahrain unfold, the Williams team, along with the rest of the Formula 1 paddock, will be fine-tuning their vehicles and strategies in preparation for the highly anticipated season opener at the Bahrain Grand Prix.

Here is how to watch pre-season testing.
