F1 fans have posted heartwarming messages after it was confirmed that Mick Schumacher is set to drive one of his father's F1 cars at an upcoming iconic event.

F1 fans have been reacting to the heartwarming news that Mick Schumacher will be driving one of his father's Mercedes at the Goodwood Festival of Speed next month. 

Mick, the son of legendary Formula One driver Michael Schumacher, will be participating in the upcoming Goodwood Festival of Speed. He will be racing his father's iconic Mercedes W02, which Michael drove during the 2011 season.

The German driver, who recently joined the Mercedes team as their reserve driver, expressed his excitement about the event, stating that it will be a special experience to drive his father's car and that he expects it to evoke a range of emotions.

The W02 was the car in which Michael earned 79 points in his penultimate year of racing. In addition to Mick's participation, the event will also feature the 2021 championship-winning car, the Mercedes W12, as well as other Formula One drivers such as Lando Norris, Oscar Piastri, and Sebastian Vettel. 

One fan posted to social media that it "would be incredibly thrilling" to see it in person. They commented:

"This is truly amazing! It would be incredibly thrilling to witness him driving that F-1 car. I wish I could have been there to see it."

Another fan wrote that it will be a huge honour for Mick to have the opportunity to driver one of his father's F1 cars. They wrote:

"Its a great honor for Mick to drive this classic car."

The W02 will be completely different to the Formula One cars that Mick has driven which another fan picked up on. They responded:

"Good for him! Always nice to be on Goodwood and with a V8 F1 car it will be special!"

Mercedes partner, INEOS, also commented on the news, saying:

"This will be one for the books"
