In an interview with Sky Sports F1, Ferrari F1 team principal Fred Vasseur has confirmed that the Ferrari car manufacturer is creating an all-electric car.

Confirming the news to former-driver and champion Nico Rosberg, Vasseur gave very little information regarding the exclusive confirmation, but stories of an all-electric Prancing Horse had already circulated in late 2022.

The Italian manufacturer is expected to release the car in 2026, the same year F1 itself is changing their regulations to feature a much more electric-orientated car. It's said to feature four motors and boast over 1,000 horsepower, a common level of power in the all-electric hypercar world.

According to CEO, Benedetto Vigna, 5% of Ferrari global sales is expected to be all-electric by 2026.

As I noted, there's very little information out there regarding this new supercar, but the patent from Ferrari (below) shows a 2-door shape:

Ferrari's hybrid power unit development within F1 will very likely have a huge impact on the development of the technology going into this new car, and will be yet another example of Formula 1 technology trickling down to road cars, regardless of their value.

They will also likely be taking cues from their 499P World Endurance Championship car, which took the win at this year's Le Mans. Powering its rear wheels is a 3.0-litre twin-turbo V6, but the front wheels are powered by a 280hp electric motor. Four of these motors could theoretically produce four-figure amounts of horsepower.
