FIA Under Fire For Death Of Dilano Van ’T Hoff: "Someone Has To Take Accountability!"
The motorsport world has been shaken today by the news of the tragic death of 18-year-old driver Dilano Van 'T Hoff.
The young driver was participating in the Formula Regional European Championship at Spa-Francorchamps today. As tributes have come flooding in for the young driver, fans have also been hitting out at the FIA as the racing went ahead in horrendous rain conditions.
One fan took to social media, writing:
"A bunch of kids were driving around in weather like this, a huge amount of spray. Seriously who in their right mind thought this was a good idea?"
Another fan responded comparing it to Formula One where conditions like this would most likely result in a red flag and racing would not take place. They commented:
"Someone needs to f***ing take accountability for this. These are junior drivers. These are KIDS. You’d red flag an F1 race in these conditions so why has this been allowed to go ahead? And now a young lad with his whole life ahead has lost his life. Disgraceful. RIP Dilano"
"Those conditions look to be as bad as Spa 21, and these aren't the best drivers in the safest cars, it's a bunch of kids in junior cars... unbelievably irresponsible, i am genuinely furious"
"Not even f1 race in these conditions, what was the FIA thinking? They are kids in junior Cars, with less experience, 0 visibility and grip in the tyres... They FIA had 3-4 corners to see the spray and red flag the race, i'm just speechless"
"I still don't understand why they didn't just red flag the race, the drivers had low to 0 visibility and was clearly struggling with grip already. they had the chance to prevent this incident and yet they didn't."
