Ford Confirmed For F1 2026 Comeback Ahead Of Red Bull RB19 Release
Ford have confirmed they are making a comeback to F1. Although they have not confirmed which team, it is widely anticipated to be Red Bull who are due to launch their RB19 and confirm the partnership this afternoon.
Sharing the news, Formula 1 posted to Twitter:
Red Bull have expressed an interest in creating their own power units from the 2026 season but have been keen on joining forces with a technical partner. Rumours have circulated over connections with Honda and Porsche, until it was revealed that Ford had sent representatives to New York for the same time the Austrian team are there to release the RB19.
The countdown is on for the release of the RB19 where we are anticipating the news to be confirmed of the Ford partnership in 2026.
F1 boss Stefano Domenicali has spoken about the news, as quoted by Formula 1:
“The news today that Ford is coming to Formula 1 from 2026 is great for the sport and we are excited to see them join the incredible automotive partners already in Formula 1.
“Ford is a global brand with an incredible heritage in racing and the automotive world and they see the huge value that our platform provides with over half a billion fans around the world.
“Our commitment to be Net Zero Carbon by 2030 and to introduce sustainable fuels in the F1 cars from 2026 is also an important reason for their decision to enter F1.
“We believe that our sport provides the opportunity and reach unlike any other and we cannot wait for the Ford logo to be racing round F1’s iconic circuits from 2026.”
Executive chairman of Ford Motor Company, Bill Ford, spoke about joining the top motorsport:
“This is the start of a thrilling new chapter in Ford’s motorsports story that began when my great-grandfather [Henry Ford] won a race that helped launch our company.
“Ford is returning to the pinnacle of the sport, bringing Ford’s long tradition of innovation, sustainability and electrification to one of the world’s most visible stages.”
