Max Verstappen put in the fastest time during the second free practice session of the Japanese Grand Prix weekend. 

Completely the top three were Charles Leclerc and Lando Norris who put in the second and third fastest times, respectively.

Similarly to the first free practice session earlier in the day, FP2 was able to get going in dry conditions.

Max Verstappen was quick to get to the top of the timesheets leading many to believe that he is back to his race-winning form after the Singapore Grand Prix. Interestingly, Sergio Perez has not managed to put in similar times to the Dutch driver, although it is worth noting that they could be running with different set-ups.

Bringing the session to an abrupt close, Pierre Gasly crashed into the race wall at Turn 6 with just two minutes to go.
