Max Verstappen has taken pole position for the Japanese Grand Prix at the legendary Suzuka circuit. 

Completely the top three are McLaren's Oscar Piastri and Lando Norris who will start from second and third in the Grand Prix tomorrow, respectively.

As the session got underway, AlphaTauri's Liam Lawson was the first out on track. Logan Sargeant put a red flag on the session as he oversteered and crashed into the race wall at the last corner, ending his session. 

Track limits was clearly an issues for some drivers with Nico Hulkenberg, Kevin Magnussen, and Alex Albon having lap times deleted.
