Oscar Piastri put in the fastest time during the second free practice session of the Japanese Grand Prix weekend.

Following the McLaren driver were Lewis Hamilton and Charles Leclerc who put in the second and third fastest times, respectively.

Logan Sargeant was forced to miss the second free practice session whilst the Williams team continued to work on his FW46 following his crash during the first free practice session.

Although the session began on time, a rain shower delayed the drivers going out on track.

13 minutes: Lewis Hamilton was the first driver to make his way out on the track, shortly after reporting "It's pretty dry, a couple of small spots.”

17 minutes: The rain showers made a comeback leaving the track clear once again. Oscar Piastri later attempted intermediate tyres as the rain worsened. However, with a few other drivers following suit, the weather was at a tricky level of not quite wet enough for intermediate tyres but too wet for slicks.

With the weather continuing to create conditions at an awkward in between, only a few drivers made it out on the track in the final few minutes of the session, including McLaren’s Oscar Piastri, Sauber’s Zhou Guanyu, and his teammate Valtteri Bottas.
