McLaren driver Lando Norris found himself in a bit of a pickle after a recent Twitch livestream. The British driver unintentionally reopened a controversial discussion in F1's recent history with just one slip of the tongue, by bringing up Lewis Hamilton's 'eighth championship title'.

During the livestream, Norris was discussing the racing helmets behind him. As he pointed to the helmet he wore during the 2020 Turkish Grand Prix, he said:

"I have this one here, it's from when Lewis won his eighth world championship..."

He immediately realised his mistake and quickly disappeared off-camera for at least 15 seconds. You can feel him cringe as he awkwardly giggles about the blunder.

The eighth championship title is a sensitive topic for many Lewis Hamilton fans after the dramatic finish to the 2021 Abu Dhabi Grand Prix which led to then race director Michael Masi stepping down from his role. Max Verstappen claimed victory on the last lap, beating Hamilton to the championship by just one point.

Norris' comment about Hamilton's eighth title could potentially reignite heated debates among F1 fans, who regularly refer to the Mercedes driver as an eight-time champion.

While some may speculate that Norris made the slip-up intentionally as a practical joke, the young driver is known for his playful nature on social media. It's more likely that Norris simply misspoke.
