Lewis Hamilton Nose Stud Controversy: FIA Issues Update
Sky Sports F1 pundit Ted Kravitz has revealed how Lewis Hamilton and Mercedes avoided repercussions over the seven-time champions nose-stud.
Speaking during Free Practice 1 of the Bahrain Grand Prix, Kravitz revealed:
"All drivers under those competitions are not allowed to wear any piercings in the car.
"And as you know, Lewis Hamilton has a nose stud, and Mercedes, this morning, were not able to say that Lewis Hamilton had passed the scrutineering in terms of not wearing that.
"They looked at it, and actually they got a doctor's report from Lewis Hamilton's side of the garage, saying that repeated removal and reinstatement of the nose stud could cause disfigurement, and that's why they've got an exemption.
This comes after a report was released this morning where by each team had to confirm which drivers were not wearing any jewellery, in which Hamilton was not accounted for.
The first practice session is still ongoing in Bahrain ahead of the first grand prix of the 2023 season on Sunday.
