Logan Sargeant faced a significant setback during the 2023 Japanese Grand Prix qualifying, ending with an unfortunate crash. The young Williams driver voiced his frustration, stating that the accident was beyond his control.

Key Takeaways:

  • Logan Sargeant crashed during the qualifying round, primarily due to rear overheating in the track's last sector.
  • Sargeant pinpointed the rear loss on his aggressive power coupled with the tailwind, which led to the unavoidable accident when he touched the grass.
  • Despite the crash, Sargeant expressed gratitude towards the Williams team's hard work and remained determined to focus on the upcoming race.

Suzuka's International Racing Course proved challenging for many during the 2023 Japanese Grand Prix qualifiers, but perhaps none more so than Logan Sargeant. The American Williams Racing driver experienced a disappointing turn of events when his car crashed, cutting short his performance in the session.

Detailing the unfortunate incident, Sargeant said:

"It’s been a good day until the incident. It was going well, and we had the car in a good window. I’ve just been struggling with rear overheating in the last sector.

"I lost the rear on exit; maybe a bit too aggressive on power with the tailwind as well. The grass creeps up on you quickly as it’s coming back towards you.

"Unfortunately, once I touched the grass, there was nothing I could do. It’s disappointing and not what I wanted."

Continuing, he was keen to thank his team for making sure he'll have his car for the race tomorrow, despite starting from the very back once again.

"I know the team have a big job on their hands to repair my car for tomorrow, and I really appreciate all their hard work and effort. I’ll put this behind me and focus on the race tomorrow," he ended.
