Mercedes Publicly Savages Red Bull After Max Verstappen Retirement
The Mercedes F1 team have shared a hilarious, yet savage, reaction to Max Verstappen retiring from Q2 of the Saudi Arabian Grand Prix qualifying session.
F1 fans were left in shock when Verstappen explained to the Red Bull team over the radio that he had encountered engine issues during Q2 of qualifying. As chaos began in the Austrian team's garage, the Belgian-Dutch driver pulled into the pit and swiftly jumped out of the car, confirming he was out of the session.
Verstappen topped the timesheets in all three practice sessions and was clearly the favourite to take pole position for the Saudi Arabian Grand Prix tomorrow, so this will have come as a huge blow to the team who are now putting all of their hopes on Sergio Perez to have a Red Bull on the front row.
Whilst this was going down, Mercedes social media admin savagely shared a short, yet punchy tweet just saying, "Well..."
The Jeddah track is incredibly fast and tight making it more difficult for driver's to perform overtakes, so Verstappen suddenly has a much bigger challenge on his hands tomorrow.
All eyes will be on Charles Leclerc during Q3 as he will be taking a ten-place grid penalty tomorrow.
