The chance to own a piece of racing history is coming up fast. A sealed auction in Hong Kong next month will see one of Michael Schumacher's most iconic Ferraris go on the market: the F1-2000.

This insane vehicle, from the first season of the new millennium, was instrumental in Schumacher's first win with the Maranello-based squad. It's a rare opportunity to own a piece of history and is sure to excite mega-rich collectors and racing enthusiasts alike.

The year 2000 was record-breaking for Ferrari, who racked up 170 points, 10 wins, and 10 pole positions, winning the Constructors' Championship for the first time in 21 years. Schumacher also claimed his first drivers' title that year, and this legendary car played a significant role in that triumph.

The Chassis 198 was originally the German driver's backup. At the time, teams were allowed to bring a spare car to every race. But fate intervened in the second race of the season in Brazil when Schumacher's first car was written off in qualifying. He went on to win the race in Interlagos and used the car three more times, including for his last Monaco pole.

Sadly, Schumacher's time with the car came to an abrupt end at the Austrian Grand Prix. He was wiped out by Ricardo Zonta in the first lap, and the car was never used again. It was rebuilt by Ferrari, and now, it's ready to take pride of place in a collector's garage.

The F1-2000 is a sure to be popular amongst those who can afford it, however, the estimated value has not been revealed yet. Previous F1 models from Schumachers iconic career have been sold for millions.

Lot 101 will be on display April 1-6 at the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre.
