The Australian Grand Prix was a mix of disasters with a record-breaking 3 red flags during the Albert Park race. Now, after scoring his first points of the season, Nico Hulkenberg has opened up on what it was like turning a corner and seeing the wrecked F1 car of Alex Albon, admitting it "could have ended badly".

After a brilliant weekend for the Thai-British driver, Albon was in contention for points at this weekend's race as he settled his car into P5. But lap 7 saw his race come to an end as he wiped out, spraying debris across the track's tarmac causing the first of many red flags.

"Yeah, it was pretty brutal," Nico said on the incident. "[The race] started out civilised until Alex lost control of his car, and then it was a horror scenario.

"As a driver to come into a blind corner and there's basically a car on the track that you can't even see because of all the dust and gravel... [That corner is] brutally fast, 250 km/h, and it could have ended badly. Thankfully, nothing happened."

Adding to the horror he experienced, he went into more detail on just how little visibility he had as he turned the corner.

"You can see it with the helmet cam, you can only see dust and the car very late.

"I can tell you, there was really a code brown moment for me.

"I think I shouted frantically on the radio because my pulse skyrocketed at that moment."

Finishing P7 at the Australian Grand Prix, the German driver scored his first points of the season with his team, Haas, now sitting ahead of Alfa Romeo, AlphaTauri, and Williams.
