Fernando Alonso has revealed the one F1 driver on the grid who has Sebastian Vettel's phone number.

The four-time champion recently headed into retirement at the end of the 2022 season leaving a space open on the Aston Martin team, which two-time champion Alonso took as he moved away from Alpine.

The German driver has always kept very private on and off the track but was clearly popular with the other drivers', however, Alonso has confirmed only Lewis Hamilton has his personal number.

The news was confirmed by the Spanish driver's former teammate from McLaren Stoffel Vandoorne, who explained he had reached out to Alonso to get Vettel's number only to get the reply: "I don't have that, only Lewis [Hamilton] has his number."

Despite how it may seem, Vettel and Alonso still have a very strong friendship. The former Alpine driver posted to social media ahead of Vettel's last race, the 2022 Abu Dhabi Grand Prix, saying that his retirement was "emotional and sad at the same time". He posted:

"Danke Seb, One last time sharing the track with you, It will be emotional and sad at the same time, but I wish you all the best for your next chapter."

Along with the message was photos of Alonso's helmet for the race which read "Danke Seb" on the side as well as photos of the pair together throughout their long careers.

The 2023 season will be starting at the Bahrain Grand Prix on 3-5 March with the pre-season testing the week before. February is filled with important F1 dates with the teams revealing the 2023 liveries. Haas were the first time to reveal the livery for the VF-23 yesterday and Red Bull are due to reveal the RB19 at an event in New York City on Friday 3.
